New Italian Architecture
The visual synthesis on the cover is onlab's interpretation of a subject proposed by the editorial team: against the symbolic smoketrail backdrop of the Italian Frecce Tricolori are a number of faces of designers as yet unveiled. They were re-photographed by Michel Bonvin.
Cover Story, Stefano Casciani
Waiting to become public figures the silhouttes were staged to constitute as many signs of protest, as seen in demonstrations the world over. This cover and the "Instant Atlas" of new Italian architecture can be seen as two manifestos of a rapidly changing situation: the promise that the last generation will manage in contemporary times and, perhaps, return the focus and action to Italy's demands and needs – wich are actually dramatic.
