New Italian Photography and Typography
Unique panorama of developments, as Italian photography has always shown itself to be, in the work of its most penetrating exponents, past and present. The artworks published in this issue were on show in the exhibition “Da Guarene all’Etna 09. Dieci anni di fotografia italiana”, curated by Filippo Maggia, Palazzo Re Rebaudengo, Guarene d’Alba (CN), 26.09 - 15.11.09.
"Alice" by Marta Bernstein – graduated in Industrial Design from Milan Polytechnic. In 2009 she gained a Master’s degree in typedesign from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. She has taught at the Polytechnic and Polytechnic Design School in Milan since 2007. "Alice" is her first font.
"Roman Grotesque" by Joseph Miceli – born in Sicily but spent his formative years in New York City, later studying graphic design and typography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He currently lives between Vilnius and Rome. He has designed several typefaces such as the "Equo" family, "Crasto", "FrankLatin", "Shaolin", "Stout Gothick" and most recently "Roman Grotesque".
