How does digital communication influence the social sector? And how can digital technologies be used for social causes? Betterplace Lab gets to the bottom of these questions by publishing a Trendreport.
Betterplace Lab researches digital communications and develops tools for the social sector. The printed report shows how digital innovations (mobile services, websites, etc.) enhance activity in the social sector and presents hundreds of concrete examples of how NGOs, foundations, and CSR departments utilize mobile networks and the internet to achieve more transparent, participatory and more direct engagement with their target groups.
The challenge to compile digital-social trends in a printed book format – as a tangible and haptic archive – requires to increase the quality of the reading experience off-screen.
The format, paper, reproduction methods as well as typography are chosen meticulously for the pleasure and clarity of the reading. To be able to represent the complex topics outlined in the book we developed , in cooperation with the illustrator Cristóbal Schmal, a specific visual language for the printed product and – at the same time – for the web-application. The visual vocabulary and the simplicity of the drawings are guiding the reader through the 12 trends.
