onlab designed the communication of two related exhibitions in the Museums of Fine Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle (Switzerland). The exhibitions dealt with the relationship between industry and art in the Neuchâtel Mountains in the 19th century.
The visual concept of the posters, flyers and invitations takes on the relationship between industry/production and art/design by using traditional wood block printing with original letters from the Neuchâtel area for contemporary poster design. The wooden letters were printed in Berlin, scanned, recomposed and screenprinted in metallic colours on pearly background. The result reminds us of the industrial heritage and production techniques while visually communicating contemporary design and culture.
