Galerie C offered a Carte Blanche à Matthieu Gafsou, who dedicated the exhibition to six photographic positions all dealing with long-time exposure, merging light and time in manifold ways. From different points of view the works of Matthieu Gafsou, Cyril Porchet, Nicolas Savary, Eduardo Serafim, Alexey Titarenko and Benoît Vollmer observe the movement and change of nature, technology, or human beings, while excavating the often overseen poetry of the in-between, and the very own aesthetics of the palimpsest-like overwriting of the ephemeral.
The show is accompanied by Galerie C’s very first exhibition catalogue, designed by onlab. Held in large format (Din A3), the publication takes the photographs’ themes on, finding a comprehensive design whose typographic concept bases on the idea of merging informative layers, at the same time contrasting images (large format, matte-coated paper) and texts (shorter pages, uncoated paper) formally and aesthetically with each other. The catalogue includes a text by Nathalie Herschdorfer.
